Make sure to follow these instructions before arriving for your appointment:
• Get a good night's sleep.
• Make sure to eat before arriving for your tattoo.
• No alcohol 24 hours before your tattoo.
• Do not pre-numb the area
-
ID will be required if you look under 18 years old.
Tattooing may cause your blood sugar to dip, so you might want to bring a chocolate bar or something sweet with you.
Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to remove, if your tattoo is placed in an awkward area.
-
Leave your second skin on for 24 hours. After that time, you will need to peel off with some warm water and wash the tattoo gently with some fragrance free soap.
If you have second skin, apply a fresh layer to the tattoo and keep covered for 3-5 days.
If you do not have second skin, you may wash the area 1-2 times a day gently with warm fragrance free soapy water.
Do not submerge the tattoo in water during the peeling stage. You may take showers, but make sure the area stays dry.
Drink plenty of water whilst your tattoo is healing.
Use the tattoo ointment a few times a day (after cleaning) to help with faster healing. Types of tattoo ointment: Benpathen, 100% natural Coconut oil, E45 cream.
-
Within the first week, you will notice that it is less vibrant, not as tender to the touch, and has slight scabbing. These are all good signs that your tattoo is healing correctly.
By the end of week 2, all signs of swelling, redness, and irritation should be resolved. Keep in mind that you should still practice the proper cleaning/washing followed by cream until the entire 4 weeks are up.
Even if your tattoo appears to be fully healed on the surface, you are still susceptible to infection in the early weeks, as looks can be deceiving.
-
During the healing process, it’s important that you do not submerge your tattoo in water for any length of time as this can increase the risk of infection due to bacteria in the water and ink dropping out from the tattoo.
No baths, No pools, No swimming in the sea.
Showering is fine, but gently pat dry afterwards
-
During the healing process, avoid direct sunlight and sunbeds as this will cause damage to your skin and increase the likelihood of the tattoo to fade.
-
Day 1: Pink/ red, tender and a little swollen.
Days 2-4: Colour will appear darker as the scabbing process begins.
Days 4-7: It will begin to feel hard, itchy and dry. Do not pick the area.
Days 7-14: Colour will look uneven and patchy and will look like pigment didn’t take under the skin. This is totally normal.
Days 14-28: Colour will start to bloom back as inside continues to heal.
Day 28+: Your tattoo should now be fully healed.
