FAQs
-
Microblading is the process of manually implanting colour pigment into the dermis, by means of tiny, sterile, disposable needles to create the appearance of natural looking hair strokes.
-
With the sudden popularity and media attention to the term microblading, many are led to falsely believe microblading is not a tattoo process. Any time pigment is placed into the skin with any device, it is indeed a tattoo process.
-
The discomfort is relative as everyone has a different level of sensitivity. We apply numbing cream 30mins before procedure, however you will feel a slight scratchy feeling if you do have sensitive skin. Some clients have said it feels similar to threading or a cat scratch and some clients even fall asleep!
-
The main healing takes place between 7-10 days. The first few days following your procedure, the pigment will appear much darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around the 1st or 2nd week post procedure, the skin naturally exfoliates and regenerates. During this time, the pigment may appear patchy and difficult to see. Around week 4, when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment become more visible.
-
Microblading is a permanent procedure. However, the pigment will significantly fade over time and we recommend scheduling an Annual Touch-Up with your artist to keep your brows looking their best. Depending on skin type and treatment, it can last between:
Microblading: 1-2 years
Combination: 2-3 years
Ombre: 3-5 years
Lip Blush: 3-5 years
Freckles: 1-5 years
-
Your bespoke colour is based on a range of factors - your fitzpatrick, your skin tone and undertone, and your natural colour hair. By using these methods, we can guarantee a perfect colour match.

Our Microblading technician will carry out a medical form during booking to make sure you have no contra-indication which would either prevent the treatment going ahead.
Please note: Microblading cannot be carried out on pregnant or breast-feeding ladies, insulin dependent diabetic clients, clients on Steroid or Ro-Accutane medication, and clients currently undergoing Chemotherapy. It cannot be carried out on people who also suffer with keloid scarring.
For some medical conditions, a doctor’s note maybe required, if you are unsure please feel free to contact us to ask.
If you are planning on having anti-ageing injectable (Botox) or cosmetic surgery, please advise the technician as these procedures may alter the shape of your brows.
If you have already had Botox/Fillers or facial surgery, you are required to wait 6-8 weeks
-
You can expect to see results immediately, but please beware that the colouring can be up to 50% darker straight after the treatment, this will fade 4-7 days after treatment. The true colour will not come through until 4-6 weeks after your procedure.
The technician will provide you with an aftercare leaflet… it is very important that the aftercare is followed to ensure the very best result!

Post Treatment
Keep your brows dry for 7-10 days. However make sure they are cleaned daily with a damp lint-free cloth to remove any bacteria. If you have ombre or lip blush, apply a rice grain amount of ointment twice a day using a cotton bud until the scabs have completely come off. (Do not rub!).
During this time, the channels will begin to scab and flake off. Allow the skin to do this on its own. Under no circumstances should you pick, pull, or rub these off!!
Should the area get wet, gently pat dry using a clean lint- free cloth. Again, do not rub!
You cannot expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This includes direct sun, tanning beds, Jacuzzis, saunas, chlorinated pools, hot water or skin creams, other than what you have been instructed to use.
Please remember that the colour is up to 30-50% darker immediately after the treatment. It will begin to get lighter as the skin begins to heal (5-7 days). The true healed colour will not come through until 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment.
OTHER FACTORS TO CONSIDER
Microblading is a 2 step process...
Visit 1 - is the ‘Base Coat’
Visit 2 – is the ‘Perfecting’ (these should be booked 6-8 weeks apart)
Your procedure is not deemed complete until you have had both treatments.
Permanent Cosmetics are a low maintenance treatment, not a no-maintenance treatment. Maintenance is required to keep your brows in perfect condition. Although it is semi-permanent make up, it can fade but will not disappear therefore a colour refreshment is required. Depending on each individual this should not be needed until 12-18 months after your initial treatment.
To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen and moisturiser with SPF50.
Skin products with glycolic or fruity acids can fade permanent make up. So, avoid using on your newly created brows.
Please inform the Blood Transfusion service if you donate blood, as you may not be able to give blood for 4 months post procedure.
If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures please inform them you have had permanent cosmetics.
